Small-batch. Made in Sydney.

With a relentless obsession for tone, durability, & quality - This is our Story.

About Us - Our Story

Founded in 2021 by Thomas Welladsen, Voltage Cable Co.® was born out of a deep love for guitar tone, design, and innovation. Our passion for boutique gear, reliability, and the music industry drives everything we do.

Handmade in Sydney, Australia, Voltage cables are built by experienced qualified technicians using only the finest components available and are backed by a genuine lifetime warranty.

As a family-owned and operated business, every cable passes through multiple hands before it reaches you. We strip, solder, seal, test, and package everything in-house at our small-batch operation in Windsor, NSW — just outside of Sydney.

Our mission is simple: to manufacture the best-sounding, most reliable cables on the market.

The Birth of a New Standard.

Voltage wasn’t built overnight—it was forged through local demand, years of experience playing guitar, building cables, and working on and modifying hand-wired amplifiers. All of these key ingredients, along with our experience working with touring artists, have ignited a no-compromise philosophy towards manufacturing the best products we can.

Before launching Voltage Cable Co.®, I (Tom) spent many years working in a small-town boutique guitar shop called River Music, surrounded by some of the best amplifiers like—Soldano, Bogner, Friedman, and the sought-after hand-wired vintage Marshalls. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 7, and getting a job in a store like River Music unapologetically kicked off a massive obsession with guitar tones, how those sounds were made, and what gear was used to get there.

At the shop, one of the most popular services we offered was modifying Marshall amps, gutting and rewiring Fender amps to be point-to-point, and adding custom circuits to other reputable amplifier brands.

During this time, I had the chance to work alongside Pete Reynolds—my old boss, the owner of the shop, and a valve amp genius with over 45 years of experience, modifying and repairing valve amps as well as designing and handcrafting his own brand—Reynolds Valveart. Pete’s deep understanding of sound, electrical engineering, and durability completely changed the way I looked at guitar products and influenced me massively with my own gear purchases and business decisions relating to everything Voltage.

Pete wasn’t just a mentor—he’s an old-school amplifier guru, a motorbike racer at heart (Triumph was the bike), and someone who believes that rock-solid reliability is the only way. Australian standards matter deeply to us. Today, Pete is the head technician at Voltage, and chances are, the cable you’re playing was made by Pete—hand-soldered, ISO-COAT® sealed, and meticulously tested to meet our tough Q/C standards.

Everything I learned working at River Music is now echoed through Voltage. From my first day to now, the story has come full circle—and we’re just getting started.

Working alongside Pete, I learned the true meaning of quality. I saw firsthand how every solder termination, every component choice, and every small detail could affect an amplifier’s tone and longevity. We spent countless hours diagnosing gear failures, fixing problems, and figuring out why some equipment stood the test of time while others failed.

One of the biggest issues we kept encountering—beyond amplifier failures—was bad cables.

Our Stake in the Ground.

From humble beginnings — as Voltage Cable Co.® started to establish itself in the guitar cable market, my team and I made a very clear decision: to set a new standard for what durability is and means, and to manufacture guitar cables that are not only inspiring to use, but that actually last a lifetime.

What truly matters to us is that you, the artist, receive a product that can stand the test of time — a product we can back with 100% confidence. We want our customers to focus on playing, not worrying about gear failure. That’s why our attention has been on developing the best-sounding, reliable guitar cables money can buy.

It all starts with high-quality components and the skilled handmade work. Our highly experienced cable technicians use Quad Eutectic silver solder, ensuring oxygen-free connections for maximum signal integrity and strength — along with a rigorously tested quality control program that ensures every cable shipping from Sydney has been approved.

Using quality components is one thing — and yes, they definitely matter. But ignoring the real reasons cables fail? That’s not doing the industry, or our artists, any justice.

For the last 4 years, my team and I have been working tirelessly diagnosing, developing, testing, and innovating our way to a solution for this decades-old, industry-known problem we all know as cable failure.

Every company wants return customers. We want lifetime customers, using our lifetime products.

Introducing ISO-COAT® — The First and Only Lifetime Hermetic Seal for Instrument Cables. (Patent Pending)

With my team’s hard work and 45+ years of hands-on experience — on the bench, in the studio, and on stage — we’ve encountered every type of cable failure imaginable. So, sticking to our core beliefs, we invented ISO-COAT® — a patent-pending, world-first solution to eliminate cable failure at its source.

ISO-COAT® hermetically seals the entire cable assembly, preventing oxidation, corrosion, and atmospheric attack — the leading causes of signal loss, sonic degradation, and cable failure. Designed for any gig, any climate, anywhere, we can proudly say this is our stake in the ground as a boutique Australian company stepping up to deliver guitarists of the world a product that actually does what it says on the box.

Every guitar cable leaving our warehouse in Sydney now comes protected with ISO-COAT® — and a hand-stamped wax seal authenticity card symbolising our guarantee and innovation to you.

For guitarists who demand genuine lifetime durability from their gear and consistent connection to their music, Voltage Cable Co. is here to provide that small but crucial link between the artist and the expression.
